Story

When we launched the Sandman 2-String Bass at the beginning of the year, it reignited interest in the wonderfully unconventional Premier scroll-body design that inspired it. Before long, customers began asking the obvious question: “When are you going to make the Premier Scroll Guitar?” We listened.

Original Premier Multivox 781s are exceptionally rare, and when one does surface, it can command a serious price (like this original currently listed for $5,000)! Our new model is a detail-oriented tribute that faithfully captures the dramatic curves, ornate detailing, and unique character of the original, with a solid mahogany body, bound ebony-veneer top, and elegant inlaid scroll.

Of course, faithfulness has its limits... the originals didn’t even have a truss rod! We’ve preserved the look, feel, and personality players love while introducing the modern construction, stability, and refinements needed to make ours the better everyday instrument. A Göldo DG tremolo provides smooth, expressive vibrato, while vintage E-style knobs complete its wonderfully eccentric retro appearance.

A pair of custom-wound “D-style” pickups are voiced to recreate the lively character of the original guitar’s vintage DeArmond pickups, delivering plenty of clarity, bite, and old-school attitude. It’s a rare and remarkable design, thoughtfully reborn for players who want the appeal of the original—without the collector’s price tag or the need to treat it like a museum piece.
